Harrison Tenzer
Art Inevitable
With over 15 years of experience in the art world as a Contemporary Art Specialist at auction houses, working artist, independent curator and writer, Harrison Tenzer founded the art advisory firm Art Inevitable in 2025. Tenzer has held senior roles at Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Department and United Talent Agency’s (UTA) Fine Art Division as well as sales, research and marketing positions at Christie’s and Wright auction houses.
As a Vice President and Contemporary Art Specialist at Sotheby’s for over seven years, Harrison advised private, estate and institutional clients on both acquisition and sales strategies. In 2016, he established the Contemporary Art online sales, growing the New York business thirty-fold, while overseeing the creative direction, sales and sourcing strategy for the platform. These sales were key elements in promoting important collections, such as Douglas S. Cramer, Tommy Hilfiger, David Teiger and the sale of Keith Haring’s personal collection to benefit the LGBT Center. In addition to the Keith Haring Foundation, Harrison advised a broad array of artists and estates on collection valuation, management and strategic initiatives to expand artists’ visibility and markets. He is compliant with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
As Senior Director at UTA, Harrison worked at the intersection of brands, entertainment and the art world. He worked with Fortune 500 brands on strategic collaborations with artists and activations at art world events and advised represented talent on art acquisitions and sales. He also curated exhibitions at the UTA gallery spaces and worked with major creative talent on expanding their own artistic practices and collaborations with arts institutions.
Harrison is a visual artist working in Bushwick as well as an independent curator, co-founding Brooklyn Rail Curatorial Projects in 2013 and working on solo projects as well. Harrison graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a major in American History and a minor in Art History.
